WIP4: Outcasts

this is the longest part of a painting. I think I'm almost done, but there is so much left to do. Not finished yet. I fixed up the figures a bit and added texture and color to the tree. All that remains is to fix the face of the boy on the left, and add figures in the distance.

WIP3: Outcasts

This one's almost done. I need to put final refinements on the figures (clothing and faces), as well as the figures off in the distance. The tree needs a little stabilization at the base, too.

WIP2: Outcasts

Same as before, with more stuff in it.

WIP: Outcasts

Here's my latest, begun last week in painting class. This is another in my series from cherry blossom season at the Tidal Basin. I've had trouble in the past with how to handle foreground, but this is turning out well so far. The next step will be filling in the background, and fixing up the path. Sorry about the reflection on the left side of the painting; with a canvas this size it's hard to eliminate shine.

I've included the first stage photo as well as the current one. Oil on canvas, 29" x 22".

Finished!

It's done! I really like how this one turned out, and I think will submit it to the Student Art Show at the Torpedo Factory. Oil on canvas, 20" x 16. It needs a title and I'm taking suggestions. :) I also started a new large format painting in the same series, and will be posting my work so far later today.
