Annual Library Garden 2

This is the Annual Library Garden in Washington, DC, located near the Potomac River and the Tidal Basin (which you can see in the background). This view is from the opposite side of the garden from the other painting I did, which you can see here.

Oil, 12" x 16".

WIP2: Snow Bug

It's starting to feel like spring so I thought I'd squeeze out a snowscape while I was still in a winter mood. This is a scene from my neighborhood. I thought this painting was finished but decided I want to rework the branches, so it's not done yet. Oil, 10" x 8".

Done. This is a corner in my neighborhood. South Columbus, obviously. Oil, 6" x 8".

Path to Murren 07

This was an experiment to see the difference between oil and watercolor. I first used this reference photo for Path to Murren, a watercolor I did years ago.

So what did I learn? For one thing, if you do a successful painting, don't do it again -- you won't recapture the magic of the first time!

I took the reference photo in Gimmelwald, Switzerland.

Oil, 16" x 20".

WIP2: Andrea

update of my final painting for my life drawing class. That class kicked my butt. I still want to do some work on this but it's going really well. Oil, 16" x 20".
